The ChomChom Roller is a no-tape way to get dog and cat hair off your furniture. Good Housekeeping's July 2026 test named it best overall after it picked up all the visible fur on their test surfaces in a single pass.
How it works: no batteries, no cord and no sticky sheets. You roll it back and forth in short strokes, and a fabric-covered roller inside builds a static charge that grabs the hair and tucks it into a chamber at the back. Press the button, the lid pops open, and you tip the fur straight into the trash.
It shines on big, flat fabric: couch cushions, pet beds, bedding, upholstered headboards and car seats. Good Housekeeping found it works best with the fabric pulled taut, and their pet-owning staff mentioned it more than any other tool. CNN Underscored's tester, with two dogs in a small condo, found it gentle on furniture and liked that it holds everything until you empty it. Because it's reusable, there are no refills to buy and no pile of used sheets, and unlike rubber brushes it doesn't just push fur into a clump.
The honest catch: it's big, so it's clumsy on clothes, collars and small spots, and Good Housekeeping preferred a garment brush, the OXO FurLifter, for clothing. CNN's tester needed a few passes on a fabric couch, and a few short, deeply embedded hairs stayed behind. It's made for upholstery, not thick carpet, so you'll still want a vacuum there. It relies on static, which meant a few little shocks for CNN's dogs, and on big jobs you'll stop to empty the chamber. For fur woven deep into a tough couch, CNN found the metal-edged Uproot Cleaner Pro pulls more out, though it can snag delicate fabric.
Our verdict: yes, it's worth it if your dog or cat sheds on the couch, the bed or the car seats. Roll, pop the lid, toss. It's also a handy stocking stuffer for a pet lover.
